Things You Need to Know Before Visiting Ice Castle

ICE CASTLE is massive and mesmerizing ice playground. It’s all hand built using hundreds of thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists and weighs in around 20 million pounds of ice per castle.

If you haven’t visited the ICE CASTLE before then this must be at the top of your list of winter adventures this year, as its by far our favorite thing to do during winter in Colorado. I believe it is the most magical winter attraction.

They have four locations all around USA this winter, each with unique designs and features. You will be able to find them in:
– Midway, Utah
– Dillon, Colorado
– North Woodstock, New Hampshire
– Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

We have visited the Ice Castle Dillon location for the last two years, and each year it was EPIC. We had lots of fun walking through frozen tunnels, sitting on ice benches and of course going up and down frozen icy slides.

7 TIPS FOR VISITING THE ICE CASTLES

Buy your tickets online ahead of time. They say that the most popular times to visit castle is between 4pm-7pm on Saturdays, so if you are looking to go during that day/time, I would highly recommend to buy your tickets at LEAST one week before you want to go.
Tickets are for a half hour time slot. You need to arrive during this time slot, but once you are in, you can stay as long as you would like.
If you want to see the Ice Castles during the daylight and the nighttime , when everything is lit up with colored LED lights then go around 4pm– 4:30pm ⠀
Before getting dressed and entering the castle, make sure everyone takes a potty break at the portable bathrooms near the entrance. IMPORTANT: There are no bathrooms inside the castle, and you cant re-enter.⠀⠀⠀
Dress warmly. Wear snow pants, gloves, a hat , warm coat, scarf , warm socks and snow boots with good traction as its slippery and slushy inside the castle.
If you have a baby/toddler , then bring a baby carrier or a sled. A stroller will not work well in the snowy castle environment. We used Thule Chariot Ski Kit and it worked great for us.
Bring a CAMERA 📸 and have FUN while you are there. ⠀⠀
