This was a hosted stay by YMCA of the Rockies. All opinions, however, are my own. I want to say thank you to the YMCA of the Rockies for hosting us! We truly enjoyed our stay and will be back!

In the beginning of June we went on a long weekend trip to the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. Even though we travel a lot around Colorado, and stayed multiple times in Estes park this was our first time at the YMCA.
At first, due to the current situation, I was a little bit nervous to travel, but as soon as we entered the property of the YMCA, I got truly impressed with all the safety protocols in place. They have drive-thru check in, everyone is required to wear a mask and all of their cabins are spaced apart. This place is taking many different precautions to ensure health and safety of its visitors.

Lodging options

There are many lodging options at the YMCA from a lodge room to 4 bedroom cabins. We stayed at 2BRD cabin with a wooden fireplace and stunning views. Actually all of their cabins have gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains.

We were pleasantly surprised from the moment we entered the cabin how clean and spacious it was. Cabins have fully-equipped kitchens where guests can cook their own meals if desired. There are lots of pots and pans, baking dishes, coffeemaker, tea pot, plates, forks, etc. We brought all of our food and were able to cook our meals and enjoy them outside on the deck with mesmerizing views of the mountains.

Food
The General Store located in the Administration building offers a limited selection of grocery items. There is also grocery store located in the town of Estes Park, which is about ten minutes away.
YMCA has a few restaurants, an all-you-can-eat buffet-style dining hall on its property for a quick food purchase.
Activities
There are many different activities at the YMCA, that we enjoyed doing. Dorsey museum, Rock climbing, Mini Golf, Astronomy classes and many others. With so many activities to do, you’ll never get bored.

The boys especially loved Axe throwing, horseback riding, and of course playing on their gorgeous playground.

Some programs require advance registration, but many are drop in! Most of the activities are free and included with a lodging reservation, but there are some activities that have additional fees. Check out this program for activity options.
Hiking
YMCA offers dailyguided hikes and they are free to guests staying on grounds. We decided to explore around the property on our own, and the Boone Family Mountain Center hiking information area was a great resource. They offer maps and recommendations of trails in the surrounding area.
We ended up hiking Bible Point, a 1.3 mile easy and quick hike. This is an especially great hike for the families with kids. The views over the YMCA and the peaks of RMNP from the top are incredible.

Glacier Creek Trail is also in this area and will take you right into RMNP.
Pet Friendly Cabins
YMCA of the Rockies is one of the few lodging properties in Estes Park offering affordable pet-friendly lodging options!
Now more than ever we all need a getaway where we can adventure together as a family and build new memories in the fresh air and wide-open spaces. As you can tell, we had a wonderful time! So thank you to the YMCA of the Rockies for hosting us! We can’t wait to come back!
Now is your chance to have a dream getaway and this is a great destination for a quick family vacation.
